The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and analyzing transactions. This role requires hands-on accounting experience, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses.
Job Description
- Perform month-end close procedures including recording journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze financial results to understand and explain variances to forecast and budget.
- Create and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Support the creation of financial reporting deliverables for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the annual external audit by preparing workpapers and actioning audit requests.
- Support efforts to strengthen cross-functional relationships for business alignment.
- Assist in the preparation of the company's annual budget, working with various departments to set targets and allocate resources effectively.
- Identify technology and automation opportunities to drive efficiency.
- Establish and improve internal control processes to enhance compliance and safeguard company assets.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting setting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with general ledger reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis.
- Big 4 experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel, including working with large datasets, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
- Experience with ERP systems (Sage preferred but not required).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments.
- ASC 606 revenue recognition and lease accounting (ASC 842) experience is a plus.
