Summary: The Senior Enterprise Information Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing scalable technology solutions that support actuarial functions, such as pricing, risk modeling, forecasting, and reporting. This role involves collaborating with actuarial, data science, and IT teams to build and optimize systems leveraging cutting-edge technologies, including cloud platforms like Azure, advanced SQL databases, APIs, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems. The successful candidate will facilitate the design of system architecture, ensure high quality data integration, leverage general understanding of AI/ML technologies, and optimize critical actuarial processes.
Duties and Responsibilities will include the following: - System Architecture Design: Lead the design and development of complex systems leveraging cloud-based technologies, primarily on Microsoft Azure. Develop and integrate APIs to enable smooth data flow between actuarial systems and other enterprise systems. Architect solutions using machine learning and AI-knowledge, risk analysis, and predictive modeling.
- Data Management & Integration: Design and optimize SQL databases to handle large datasets, ensuring data accuracy, availability, and performance. Work with EDI technologies to streamline data exchange between internal systems, partners, and external clients. Collaborate with data engineers to ensure smooth data integration and the availability of high-quality data for actuarial models.
- Solution Development & Implementation: Implement Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions) for cloud-native actuarial systems. Ensure system scalability, security, and compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and support to Data, Platforms, and Services teams to ensure alignment with architectural designs. Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including business analysts, data scientists, actuaries, and IT professionals, to meet business objectives. Conduct regular reviews and improvements on existing systems, incorporating new technologies and methodologies.
- Documentation & Best Practices: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural blueprints, system flows, and user guides. Establish and enforce best practices for coding, system development, and data management within the actuarial systems domain.
- Continuous Learning & Innovation: Stay updated with advancements in cloud technologies, AI, ML, and APIs to incorporate innovative solutions into the actuarial systems. Evaluate new technologies and tools to enhance system performance, automation, and data processing capabilities
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: - Cloud Architecture & Platforms: Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure (Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Azure AI/ML, Azure Functions, and more). Proficiency in designing and implementing cloud-native solutions using Azure.
- Data & Database Expertise: Strong command of SQL (Azure SQL, JSON, PYTHON) for database design, querying, and optimization. Familiarity with large data sets and data lake technologies for handling actuarial and financial data.
- APIs & Integration: Proficient in developing and managing APIs for integrating disparate systems. Hands-on experience with EDI systems and protocols for data interchange between systems.
- AI & Machine Learning: General understanding of AI and ML principles.
- Programming & Development: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python for system development and model implementation. Knowledge of DevOps tools for continuous integration and deployment in cloud environments.
